It begins with a silkworm on a mulberry leaf.

Silkworms eat nothing but mulberry. Around Bảo Lộc, on the Lâm Đồng plateau, mulberry grows across the hills, and the silkworms feed on fresh leaves for weeks as they grow.

Then it spins a single thread around itself.

When it is fully grown, the silkworm spins its cocoon from one continuous filament of silk, wound round and round over a few days.

Several filaments become one.

The cocoons are softened and their filaments unwound together, reeled into a single, even thread of raw silk.

The thread is gathered into yarn.

Wound into hanks, the reeled silk becomes yarn: the first thing Minh Sang Silk offers, for mills, knitters and makers.

And woven, it becomes silk.

On the loom, the yarn is laid as warp and passed through as weft, over and under, until it is cloth: raw and woven silk fabric.
